We've all done it at least once, buying something you definitely don't need that just looks so appealing in the moment. I am an impulse buyer. I wish I could say we all do it, but there are some sensible people out there. I am a 20 year old college student but I spend my money like I’ve been saving and working for a living for 5 years. My biggest verdict is clothes. I rarely buy expensive things; I buy 15 decently priced items that I reckon with myself I NEED. I absolutely need it at that very moment. It’s the worst in the summer. For college kids, this is when you make your money… so why not spend it while you have it, right? That paycheck I get every week goes straight to Marshalls.
I once almost bought not just one duck, but two baby ducks from Tractor Supply & Co. because they were just too cute to leave behind. My old friend common sense kicked in and reckoned that I don't have anywhere to keep them in my apartment.
The sales ALWAYS get me. I like thinking ahead, into the future. Like the future of "well, I might need this for this event and then I need those to match...". It's never ending! I would buy a pair of pants I won't need until the fall, in the winter. But of course I will probably end up not ever wearing the pants and giving them away. This is how us impulse buyers try to save money. Also, don't believe people when they tell you to buy things off-season. Chances are you won't like them when it comes time for that season.
Can we blame it on advertisement? I do. There's this new thing called Amazon Prime and you can buy anything with one click and it's at your door in two days. It's bad. One time I bought an Optimus Prime corset and that's what I wore for Halloween. I didn't mean to, it just kind of happened.
It feels so good to be able to just buy things. Although I am the farthest from having disposable income, it makes me believe I do at times. I think to myself, "Well, I have money on my debit card.. it's been there for awhile.. so I think it should be used now".
Impulse buying isn't all good. It's really only good in the moment or when you need something random and actually have it because of a splurge. It's not good when you have 6 weeks left in the semester and $0.34 dollars in your bank account. That's including your savings. Here's to impulse buyers!
