A Concert Review - The 1975

It's 6:57 p.m. at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and thousands of people wait in line outside the arena's doors. A majority of the women wear black skinny jeans paired with leather jackets or flannels or band t-shirts and dark lipstick and patiently await for the doors to open.

Everyone here is here for one reason - The 1975.

Back in New York once again, the band is putting on a bigger and better performance. Even without their drummer, George Daniel, who unfortunately broke his shoulder a few days before the show, the band put on an unforgettable performance. This is my second time seeing the band live and I thought the first time was amazing, but the second time was even better. With a bigger venue, bigger crowds and a more elaborate set and lighting, the band absolutely killed it.

They opened their show with 'Love Me,' the first single off of their sophomore album, I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. The synthesizing, electric, rock song set a very energetic and exciting vibe for the rest of the show. Even during the slower, serious songs, the crowd was always on their feet.

Covering songs from their new album like 'Paris', 'She's American' and 'Loving Someone' and playing classics from their older album like 'Robbers', 'Girls' and 'Menswear', lead singer, Matty Healy, really knows how to control a crowd. With his enthralling voice and eccentric dance moves, the crowd feeds off of his energy. Before their performance of their song 'Me', Healy preached about modern technology and how it interferes with living in the present and asked the crowd to put away their cell phones and enjoy the moment for the next few minutes (which a good amount of the crowd did).

A quick hour and a half later the band finishes up their 20 song set with an encore and 'Sex' as their final song of the night. Concluding the show with such a strong, heavy song kept the crowd up on their feet, dancing and screaming their lyrics until the very end. The moment the lights went back up I felt the post concert depression hit. This band puts on such an incredible, memorable performance. If you ever have a chance to see The 1975 live, go, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
