A Comprehensive Guide To Survive Your 21st Birthday

Have fun, you can finally legally drink!

One of my best friends turned 21 a few days ago and we decided to celebrate in style.

Since we are both not from this country we chose to have the full on "American Experience" of bar hopping.

Have fun, but please please please be responsible.

So here's some basic rules that shouldn't be neglected:

1. Carbs

Carbs are your best friends. It doesn't matter if you are a pro-drinker or it's your first time. Always eat carbs before AND after you drink. Trust me, you'll be thankful late.

2. Water

Drink lots of water. I know that everybody says it, but it REALLY helps and actually does the difference. Alcohol makes you dehydrated, water keeps you nice and moist (helps your skin too, amiright girls?) Remember to drink water after you are done with your alcohol of choice, or you will feel like a dry sponge the next morning - it's an awful feeling, try to avoid it at all cost.

3. Beer and liquor

Don't mix beer and liquor. Have you ever heard of the saying "Beer then liquor, never been sicker. Liquor then beer, have no fear?" There is a reason why it's pretty famous. I'd suggest to not mix up the order or, even better, to drink one or the other

4. Sip

Do not "chug" your drink. Some drinks cannot be "chugged" due to their nature, like in the case of wine for instance, but the ones for which "chugging" seems to be possible - don't. It's a terrible practice that will get you drunk too fast and you won't be able to enjoy your night. Don't be fooled by how fruity it might taste or how little liquor you're tasting, the alcoholic content is usually pretty high, especially if a drink is well made and you can't taste the alcohol

5. Know your limit

Getting tipsy can be fun if done responsibly, so don't over do it. Hugging the toilet on your knees puking what you ate two weeks ago all night is never fun. Get out of the bar on your own two feet, don't rely on the kindness of strangers in this case, better safe than sorry

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
