Technology is gradually increasing the way we as humans see the world around us, which, in all honesty, is a blessing and a curse. The world around is changing due to the way we use our devices and how we communicate with each other. We can easily send messages in the span of seconds or make phone calls within minutes compared to the use of letters that not a lot of people might continue to do.
However, the ideas of using technology to explain our emotions have been taken advantage of based on what I've viewed and what I've experienced. To tell others how we feel about them or a certain situation is easier to text to a person rather than meeting up with them face-to-face. I've done this before on multiple occasions and I'm not proud to admit that because I wished I had gone up to the person's face rather than from behind a screen.
The same goes for how we date or how we meet up with someone we're interested in. We resort to dating apps to get to know someone else, which is not wrong (!!!), but just goes to show how much of a difference we as humans have changed in the era of technology.
The reason I bring up this topic is because of a conversation I had with a friend, but that conversation, when I was telling her how I felt, was all through texting. The previous week it had been face-to-face but today was completely different from that. I mentioned how I would have told her in person what was going on but I didn't know how to formulate my thoughts.
This is an example of how technology comes into play because what we'd be so afraid to do in person we have an easier time explaining over the phone.
Some of us are becoming dependent on the uses of technology to explain our emotions. I say some because if I said 'all', then people would more than likely to say, "Um, well that's not me!!" Okay, fine it probably isn't but it doesn't mean you haven't done it at least some point in your life. Then again, maybe you really haven't done it.
Therefore, seeing as how what happened earlier on the day I wrote this article just makes me think about the impact our devices will have on our whole being. I wouldn't be surprised if there will be more advanced technological devices that will connect to our every bit of human feelings. In truth, emojis have done that thus far with one click rather than fully texting what we're thinking.
So in the end, technology certainly has some pros to the world, but we just need to learn, especially with whatever future advances have in store for us, how we can avoid having technology be the end all be all with how we convey our emotions.
