If you've ever worked at a deli or a bagel store, you've heard it all. From commentary on the heat, to complaints about the price of food, you've heard it. Don't get me wrong, working in the food industry is extremely fun if you have the right coworkers, but despite all the laughs in the world...sometimes the customers can get to you.
Here are some of the daily comments all deli workers have heard before.
Can you slice it…really thin.
Sure I’ll just cut my fingers off while I'm at it.
Oooh, can I have the bagels that just came out?
Okay let me burn my fingerprints off for your satisfaction. In all honesty, it feels like they have a personal vendetta against you.
I want my eggs over medium.
Who. Why. Why would you do this to me? Just get them over easy or fried like everyone else.
Can I have icecubes for my coffee? It’s really hot.
Oh, why had that not occurred to me?
When there’s a line out of the door and a customer says, uhh I just need a minute.
When people are next in line and are so overzealous to order they basically verbally harass you.
Wow! It’s hot in here. Don’t you guys have air conditioning?
Yes, yes ma’am we put it right next to the blazing hot oven.
Is your chicken salad fresh?
No it’s molding and we still have it stocked…of course it’s new.
When you’re forced to wake up at 4:30 in the morning.
When people try to haggle prices with you.
When they ask what's good on the menu....
Oh I don't know I just work here for the sh*t food. It's all good.
