A Commemoration For Pinterest

If you were to unlock a young lady’s IPhone and scroll through the apps, you’ll see Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and a box with a red and white P in the middle. Inside that box, ladies and gentleman, is an online world of endless ideas and pictures of anything under the sun. Pinterest is a custom-made media stage where users can save or share “pins” onto their own “boards.” Pinterest can create vicious, wonderful movement in the brains of those who use it, and those people know that a little piece of them would be lost without their little red and white P app on their phone. So, here’s a little commemoration for Pinterest.

Thank you for making me hungry. I could have just eaten a full course meal and feel stuffed to the gills, but then, I load my boards and automatically feel that pang of hunger. No bake Reese’s double peanut butter cup pie, banana upside down muffins, five cheese baked mac and cheese, and taco balls all sound good all together at either one in the morning or one in the afternoon. There are infinite recipes that will inspire you to get in the kitchen and convince you that you can be better than Martha Stewart herself. But when the grilled potato fries are far too grilled and your lemon blueberry layer cake is dryer than the Sahara Desert, don’t feel down; stay determined and open your Pinterest app back up to find more recipes you can attempt.

Thanks for turning me into a handyman, kind of. All of the DIY projects I hope to finish WILL happen (one day). As for the ones I’ve already attempted, well… the paper flower chandelier looked more like a clump of papery petals, and turning my old t-shirt into a maxi skirt was not as simple as the three steps it required me to take. Nevertheless, I do appreciate the abundant supply of ways to CHEAPLY decorate my dorm room and bathroom; this broke college girl salutes you for that.

Cheers to you for helping me prepare my wedding… even though I’m about 10+ years ahead of myself in doing so. I hope my future husband recognizes that slim planning will be needed from him when (and, more importantly IF) the time comes. Centerpieces and save the dates are already selected, and now I even know how I want him to propose. He is so lucky. Thank you, Pinterest!

I also appreciate you for helping me mentally build my future home. A swim-up bar in my backyard is a must, and so are 12 shower rooms. I know that every home should be equipped with indoor Jacuzzis, heated toilets, and several secret lofts. My “future home” board gives me motivation to find my future surgeon/lawyer husband even sooner. Thanks!

Thank you for turning me into a wannabe fashionista. My fashion board is filled with brilliant outfit ideas and beautiful shoes, and because of that, I am inspired to look as boho and chic as I can. OK, so I may still go out every day in a t-shirt and leggings, but my clothes board really lets me believe that I totally could look like that one day if I really, really tried.

A popular category in the Pinterest world is travel, and I am so glad that it is. I thank you for helping me unleash the adventurous beast that lies within. There is so much more to the world that I’m unsure I even knew about; like the fascinating sunset in Manarola, Italy. I am consumed by wanderlust every day, so I am constantly pinning beautiful destinations around the world that I am confident I’ll see one day, but until that one day, I’ll just continue to let Pinterest take me on visual vacations.

Thank you for showing me tons of daily workout plans, and for showing me pictures of chiseled, inspiring bods so I actually attempt those daily workout plans and take a break from my busy dessert recipe board. It’s nice to know that I don’t have to drink those yummy (ha!) Kale smoothies every day in order to stay fit and healthy. There are cheap and easy ways to get and stay in shape, and cheap and easy are two of my favorite words, so thank you, Pinterest.

Another thank you for being there when I need a good laugh and a mood booster. There’s never not a quote or story that I come across that isn’t extremely relevant to my life at the moment, and I’m thankful for that. Pinterest is swarming with ecards that are absolutely on point and it’s nice to read something that has the ability to put a smile on your face.

Since the day I created my Pinterest account, I feel as if I have my life more put together. Pinterest has allowed me to become my own best version of a chef, an interior designer, a workout guru, and so much more. Now that I have it, I am unsure as to what I would do without my little red and white P app on my phone. So, for one last time, thank you, Pinterest!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
