Coming Home For Break As Told By New Girl
Odyssey

As much as we have been trying to adjust to loving college (especially freshmen)... going home for Christmas break brings everything back. Suddenly you're hit with a weird nostalgia of what it used to be like to live in your old town, with your old friends, in the places you always used to go. Then, most of your friends moved away and everything changed. Christmas break can be so sweet because you get to re-live all of those things again, only this time with a greater appreciation for them than before.

Here are 20 things you can relate to while you are home again for this Christmas break, as told by our friends in New Girl:

1. Any crazy ideas your friends have you start agreeing with because you haven't seen them in so long.

2. Your parents start asking you all of these questions about college and when you're coming home.

3. You begin a new sleep cycle of staying up late and sleeping in into the afternoon.

4. You start running into all the people you thought you left behind when you went to college.

5. You remember the struggle of driving through traffic (if your college is in the middle of nowhere like mine.)

6. You actually have to start asking your friends to hang out instead of just seeing them on your hall.

7. You're constantly eating. Everywhere you go.

8. You can't find any of your things because you haven't unpacked anything.

9. When you decide it's too cold to go outside so you have to stay inside and watch Netflix all day. *oh well*

10. When your family wants to cram every possible Christmas activity into one week with you.

11. Looking in your closet and discovering all the clothes you already had you didn't bother to bring to college.

12. You told yourself you were going to relax over break, but you can't stop making plans.

13. You go to visit all of the same spots you used to hang out when you were home and reminisce on all of the memories made there.

14. Trying to motivate yourself to workout when you don't have the gym on campus.

15. You become really in touch with your baking.

16. You forgot how much you missed your pets and give them way too much attention.

17. When you stay out with your friends past your college's curfew.

18. You can let loose because your friends already know how crazy you are.

19. You actually have time to look good in the morning.

20. When you realize you have to go back to doing homework and being stressed when school ends.

Hopefully, this break will bring lots of rest and opportunities to just have fun before diving back into the second semester. Even when times get rough and stressful again, give your best and finish the semester strong!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
