1. "Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up." (Thomas Wayne/Alfred Pennyworth, "Batman Begins")
I know it sounds kind of cliche, but when we fall, we have to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off.
2. "We all look for meaning behind the tragedies that befall us. And sometimes the meaning is there. But sometimes, Master Bruce, terrible things just happen. No sinister plots. No secret societies. They just happen." (Alfred Pennyworth, Batman vs. Robin)
Alfred ends up on this list again. He serves as confidant, caretaker, and friend to Bruce Wayne/Batman. This particular quote is made when 10 year old Bruce Wayne is investigating his parents' murders and trying to find "The Court of Owls" and all Bruce's investigation leads to nothing. In life, sometimes things happen without reason. Maybe there is meaning, but we're not meant to know it right away. Everything happens.
3. "You will be different, sometimes you'll feel like an outcast, but you'll never be alone." (Superman, Superman Returns)
This quote coming from a character who has to separate being a Kryptonian and being human. We can bring this into our own lives as we can often feel alone. There are always groups that people are divided into, so naturally people can feel like outcasts. But we're never alone.
4. Jean Grey: You've been given a wonderful gift.
Kitty Pryde: I don't have a gift, just a curse.
Jean: Only if you let it be. (Jean Grey and Kitty Pryde, X-Men Evolution)
In this world, the only curses that exist are the ones we put on ourselves. Whether it is bad circumstances or superpowers, we can let these things make us bitter or better, the choice is ours.
5. "It's not a bad thing finding out that you don't have all the answers. You start asking the right questions." (Erik Selvig, Thor)
In college, we're expected to have our lives together and know exactly what we're doing; however, it is okay to not know.
6. "Whatever nightmares the future holds are but dreams compared to what's behind me." (Gamora, Guardians of the Galaxy)
Gamora, a woman who has been through betrayal, damage, and general pain still looks towards the future. We must do the same.
7. "What is, and always will be, my greatest creation... is you." (Howard Stark, Ironman 2)
I know it is easy to think that no one might miss us if we weren't here, but remember that there are people who will miss you, people who would forever carry that pain forever. YOU are their greatest creation, what they will give to the world.
8. "Love, loss, pain. They are stones in the wall that block your path, Stephen. See the wall for what it is, and then tear it down. For the truth is waiting." (Ancient One, Dr. Strange)
Loss and pain happen, often as the result of love. This can be romantic love, love for a friend, or love for a relative (as in the case above) but it remains the same: living in this loss and pain will only leave you in a place where you are unsure of where to go...kind of like there's a wall in your path or that we build walls around our hearts. We must tear down these walls in our lives.
9. "...he sent you here for a reason, Clark. And even if it takes you the rest of your life you owe it to yourself to find out what that reason is." (Jonathan Kent, Man of Steel)
We're all on this earth for a reason. And part of the human experience is finding what that reason is.
10. Pinstriped Loud Mouth: You want the truth? You swing that sword with a smile and you scare normal people. And you dress like a whore.
Wonder Woman: This is not your truth. The Lasso compels you. Now tell us your truth.
PSLM: I cross-dress in a Wonder Woman costume outfit. It makes me feel powerful.
Wonder Woman: Embrace your truth, my friend. My outfit makes me feel powerful too. (Justice League: War)
The reason this quote lands on the list is a simple one: be true to yourself. EMBRACE IT.
