Recently, I have had a cloud hanging over my head for some reason. However, listening to music is always something that makes me feel better. Here are a few of my go-to songs that give me comfort:

1. Trees - Twenty One Pilots

"I know where you stand, silent in the trees, and that's where I am, silent in the trees; I want to know you, I want to see, I want to say...hello."

This one of my all-time favorite songs by my very favorite band. I interpret this song being much like a prayer and the writer expressing how he feels alone and desperately wants to talk to God. It's a song I can always find comfort in.

2. Cigarette Daydreams - Cage the Elephant

"You can drive all night, looking for the answers in the pouring rain, wanna find peace of mind, looking for the answers; if we can find a reason, a reason to change, looking for the answers."

This is a song I can belt it out to when I just need to let my feelings out. It is explaining the constant search for purpose and answers in life, which can resonate with many people.

3. Mr. Brightside - The Killers

"Jealousy, turning saints into the sea, swimming through sick lullabies, choking on your alibi; But it's just the price I pay, destiny is calling me, open up your eager eyes, cause I'm Mr. Brightside."

This song is a classic. It weirdly reminds me of my childhood because it was one of my favorite songs when I was younger. Whenever I hear it I instantly start going crazy and forget about whatever made me upset.

4. The Zephyr Song - Red Hot Chili Peppers

"Fly away on my zephyr, I feel it more than ever, and in this perfect weather, we'll find a place together."

Red Hot Chili Peppers is one of my faves, so naturally, a song of theirs had to make this list. I believe this song is about letting go and being happy with the one you love. Just listening to it relaxes me immediately.

5. The Middle - Jimmy Eat World

"It just takes some time, little girl, you're in the middle of the ride, everything everything will be just fine, everything everything will be alright."

Even though "The Middle" seems like just an angsty teen song, it actually has a ton of meaning. It speaks volumes to not giving up even if things seem hard at the time. It always reminds me to keep a positive mind.

6. Cough Syrup - Young the Giant

"Life too short to even care at all, oh, I'm losing my mind, losing my mind, losing control... if I could find a way to see this straight I'd run away, to some fortune that I, I should have found by now."

This song is very impactful. The writer is talking about battling with depression and trying to overcome it. I think it inspires people to live life to the fullest.

Basically, playing any of these songs is the way to my heart. 10/10 would definitely recommend any of these songs to those who enjoy alternative/rock, or just good music in general. I know these songs may not be everyone's "comfort songs", but I do believe everyone should have their own playlist for when they're feeling down!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
