Finding a major is all about figuring your interests and how you want to spend the rest of your life, similar deciding what stand up special to watch on Netflix...

1. John Mulaney - English

Giphy

JOHN MULANEY WAS AN ENGLISH MAJOR. He even roasts the entire major during his stand up special "Kid Gorgeous." Paying a college to tell you to read a book that you don't actually read? Sounds about right. Fair enough, John.

2. Ali Wong - Women's Studies

Giphy

Ali Wong makes me cry she is so funny. But while I am pausing the stand up special because I can't stop laughing, I realize she is actually discussing super real issues about maternity leave and women in the work force. Well played, Ali, well played.

3. Ellen DeGenerous - Human Services

Giphy

Ellen DeGeneres is the nicest person on TV. No question. However, she is also one of the funniest. She uses her humor to be inclusive and her success to be generous towards others. Human services majors want to give away their lives in order to help others and I would argue that is exactly what Ellen is doing.

4. Aziz Ansari - Communications

Giphy

Ok, disclaimer, my impression of Aziz is completely synonymous with Tom Haverford from Parks and Rec. Although I can't speak much for Aziz, Tom is creative and corporately driven. He loves coming up with new ideas and the trill of the pitch, but loses interest in the follow through. Classic com kids.

5. Mike Birbiglia - Biology/Pre Med

Giphy

Ok, doesn't he just look like he should be in a lab researching cellular respiration? Or giving you your physical and flu shots the summer before your freshman year of college? Although he is truly incredible during a stand up special, I also wouldn't bat an eye if I saw him walking down the street tomorrow in a white lab coat.

6. Louis C.K. - Business

Giphy

He is the classic straight white guy comedian and some how I think every straight white guy on campus went to a secret meeting and decided to be business majors together.

7. Fred Armisen - Music

Giphy

His stand up special, "Stand Up For Drummers" is basically just a subtle brag that he is REALLY good at the drums. Also Portlandia is the kind of witty and obscure humor that only the theatrical would understand.

Stand up comedians are genuises, because it takes a lot of writing abilities, presentation knowledge, and social skills. Thats why most of the really funny comedians have a college degree.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
