I am disgusted with the world we live in today. The amount of lives we have lost in the past few weeks, months, this year all together, is absolutely heart breaking. The lives lost in Orlando last month, the lives lost in France this week and just last week the Dallas Police Department lost the lives of five of their officers due to a hate crime. The hate in this world has to stop. The violence in this world has to stop.
Just last night, I learned that July 15 was deemed "National Rage Against Police Day." I'm sorry, but what in the hell is wrong with people? For the last few months, we have been fighting to get rid of violence. Losing lives in Orlando to hate violence and losing more lives in Dallas to hate violence, yet you fight against violence, and then turn around to become the very type of thing you were against. Creating days like this to harm police officers to do what? Get justice? Hardly.
Killing others to get justice for lives lost isn't the way to solve the problem. Things like this and the shooting in Dallas aren't helping what is quickly becoming a war. It's just adding more sadness, causing bigger problems and more innocent lives are being lost. Innocent lives that do their jobs with passion, who have every intention on protecting and serving. Now you're going to take their lives just because they wear a uniform and a badge? None of it makes sense to me.
Coming from a family of police officers, this type of stuff scares me. The world scares me. I have friends and family who are in danger because of the profession they chose. I have friends and family who have to go to work every day not knowing if they'll make it home that night.
Getting revenge and creating more violence is not the answer; it's not the way to be heard. Using your voice, standing up for what you believe in is how you'll be heard. Violence, rioting and hate isn't going to get our country anywhere but deeper into the hole we have dug ourselves into. It's not going to help the situation our country is in.
Don't let the media perceive how you see situations. Media only shows you what they want you to see. Stay educated, know the real facts on situations, but more importantly, don't give into the ignorance of violence. Stop letting hate fuel your mind.
Remind yourself that not every person is bad because of what another has done. There are still good people in this world, genuine people who do the best they can to help, to protect and serve. People who only want peace.
