Hello Friend(s),
Thank you for being in my life. I am so grateful for your continuous presence in my life. When I came to college, I was worried that I would have trouble making friends or keeping friends but I was lucky enough to find you. I am thankful for the nights we stay in watching movies. The nights we sing along to the "Hamilton" soundtrack while playing board games. The arguments we get into playing Sorry and Monopoly give me life. I never thought I’d be the least competitive of my friends. The nicknames we have for each other will forever be ingrained in my head.
To know that I always have a person to go to is reassuring. It doesn’t matter if it’s for a stamp, a screwdriver or someone to eat with, I know that you will be there to lend me said object or just your time. Thank you for messing around with me during grocery runs and forcing me to get off campus. Thank you for listening to me when I rant about my upcoming assignments or exam anxieties. You have been by my side for several seasons and months worth of stressors, joys and all the moments that fall somewhere between the two extremes. I love that you know when I want advice and when I just need someone to be my sounding board.
Thank you for supporting me through the loss of my brother, for giving me a shoulder to lean on, for reminding me that it’s okay not to have all the answers. I don’t say it enough but having that support made a huge difference for me. You were a flash of light in that dark period of my life. I will be forever indebted to you for that. I only hope that I can be that type of support for you at some point in the future.
I just hope that I am the kind of friend to you that you are to me. I hope that you value me as much as I do you. You are the type of friend that I will tell future generations of my family, the type of friend that I would legitimately consider getting coffee with in five, ten or even twenty years. I can legitimately picture me calling you to get your perspective on the current happenings of my life, updating you on my career and love life a decade down the line. I want you to know that no matter where life takes us, you can call me and I will answer.
