After finishing my first year of college, it's now time to go back. Here are some of the thoughts and emotions every college student is feeling about going back to school.
1. Finally getting to see friends again.
2. Saying goodbye to friends from home.
3. Leaving or spending less time with family.
This reaction can honestly be different depending on your relationship with your family and even how you look at this situation. Yes, you are more independent without your parents, but now you have to do your own laundry and other things on your own.
4. Leaving your pet(s).
Leaving a pet behind is just as hard, if not harder, than leaving other family and friends behind. At least they can text!
5. Classes start again.
6. No more home-cooked meals.
Anyone else who goes to a small school with only one dining hall knows how amazing going home and having different foods is. My friends at big schools with meal plans that can be used in multiple places...well, this does not apply as much.
7. Packing your whole life up again.
It's a whole new room, possibly new building, different part of campus and you have to set your whole room up for the second, third, or fourth time; all to have to take it down again a couple months later.
8. Preparing for hours of studying.
Are you really back to school if you don't spend at least 5 hours a day in the library?
9. Getting ahead on sleep now.
10. 8 a.m. classes.
My first year I had 8 AM classes every day...now they're only Monday, Wednesday, and Friday so at least things are looking up!
11. School events and games.
Ultimately, there is no better feeling than going back to school because aside from the stressful times, late nights, early mornings, the knots in your stomach; you meet some of the best people and have some of the best experiences of your life in college. I'm so excited to be back.
