1. You make your schedule.
The beauty of college is that most classes are offered multiple times throughout the day. If you don't want to start class until 10 am, you don't have to! This also means more time for sleeping, what is not to love?!
2. You gain a newfound freedom.
No more telling your parents when you'll be home, where you're going, or who you're hanging out with. The only people looking out for you here are your friends and the RA to make sure you're not "breaking the rules."
3. You pick your friends.
In high school, it's safe to say you were only "friends" with some people because you were forced to grow up with them. The beauty of college is that if you don't like someone, you don't have to spend six hours a day with them! It's marvelous. You also meet some of your life-long friends here, and you never really get tired of each other.
4. You have friends to hang out with 24/7.
Speaking of friends in college, you more than likely meet in your dorm. In my case, my friends are all in the same hall! Need a study break? A rant session? They're all there. 24/7. Just walk in! No more asking to drive 10 minutes to see your BFF.
5. You can literally roll out of bed in the morning.
A five to 15 minute walk to class means you can get up five to 15 minutes before your class starts - something that you can't really do in high school. This also means extra sleep, what's not to love?
6. There is no dress code.
Shorts in the summer, ripped jeans, and even pajama pants. Wear whatever you want, no one is going to send you to the principals office or make you change.
7. You can actually go to the bathroom.
You don't have to raise your hand, you just walk out of class and go. We don't have a limited amount of bathroom passes in a semester in college, and they certainly don't lock the bathrooms on you so you can't go (my high school did).
8. Class actually gets cancelled sometimes.
In high school, you have to go to class back to back all day long. In college, not only do you make your schedule, but sometimes class gets cancelled...which means sometimes you might not have to go to your 8 am.
9. You get longer breaks.
Two weeks for Christmas? You mean four. I could get used to this.
10. You get a ton of free stuff.
Unlike your high school, it seems like colleges are always having giveaways, drawings, or really just giving away free things for attendance. Because when living in a small dorm room with what seems like a million things, you somehow need more. Makes sense. I'll take the t-shirt anyway!
