Dear Mom and Dad,
As you are well aware, college is hard. College is a time in which all-nighters are common, stress is a daily occurrence, and sometimes, even my best work doesn’t feel like enough. However, with your support, I am able to get through it. If I wrote about all that you do for me, I would be writing until the end of time. So instead, I have compiled a list of all the ways that you have made my college journey easier.
Thank you for editing my 15-page papers even when I send them to you extremely late at night. Because of you, I have avoided turning in papers with horrifically awkward sentences and grammatical errors that would make even a third grader wince. (What can I say? All-nighters are hard!)
Thank you for doing my laundry, which often accumulates to a size that requires the laundry bag to be rolled into the house.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to take me grocery shopping while I am home (grocery shopping for a college student is the equivalent of toy shopping as a young child).
Thank you for listening to me vent when school stress gets to be too much. You always find a way to calm me down and put things into perspective.
Thank you for comforting me when I am stressed about my grades. Your support means the world to me, and you always let me know that my best is enough.
Thank you giving me the opportunity to receive an education and for always supporting my dreams and encouraging me to follow my passions and not just what will get me the biggest paycheck.
Thank you for putting up with my bad moods and being kind to me even when I don’t deserve it.
Thank you for supporting me through school changes, changes to my major, and other changes throughout my college journey. You remind me that I am capable of making my own decisions and that I need to do what makes me happy.
Thank you for giving me food tutorials when my mac and cheese diet becomes tiresome.
Thank you for telling me that you love me every day.
Thank you for compiling a checklist of things to remember when I am packing to go back to school. Without you, I would head back up to school without my phone charger, contacts, glasses, toothbrush, and many other important daily items.
Thank you for giving me advice whenever I need it.
Thank you for telling me I am beautiful when I don’t believe it.
Most importantly, thank you for reminding me that I am enough.
Love,
Your daughter
