Going away for college means freedom, friends, fun (but stressful), and so much more. We look forward to summer, but only if we could live in our college town with our friends and no responsibilities of school work. However, most of will be going home to our families for four months.
When you go home for summer you’re going to miss your freedom. You're used to waking up or coming home at anytime you please, eating what you what, when you want it for dinner, and other than cleaning your dorm or apartment, you don't have chores when you're away at college.
At school, you only do things when you want to, so when you come home and you have a list of chores and a curfew, do not be surprised. But, do not get annoyed with your family, they have been looking forward to having you home since you left for school in August.
You will more than likely have to work this summer. Yes, no more laying around by the pool all day, you're going to have to make some money from a real job or internship. On the bright side, you'll have money for when you are back at school and are once again a broke college kid. On a professional note, it will go good on your resume and LinkedIn profile.
You already know this, but you will miss your college friends when you are at home for summer. At least there's always FaceTime, Snapchat, and other sources of social media to keep up with your friends. It's also another good reason to go on a road trip! BUT, do not forget about your friends from home. Make time for your friends that you grew up with, and remember not to talk too much about how awesome your new friends are and how much you miss them to your old friends.
Be grateful to be home and enjoy the time you have with the people who love you the most. Trust me, they have been waiting since you moved into your dorm or apartment for the day you come home for summer.
