There are benefits to sharing a bathroom in college like preserving water, building community, etc. But there are quite a few things college students have to get used to with community bathrooms such as losing personal space, developing a stronger stomach and understanding that some people are just more comfortable with themselves than others.
1. Shower shoes are a necessity.

Even though the shower is the place to cleanse our bodies, we don’t let our bare skin touch the walls or the floor. Sometimes the best thing we can do in a community shower is choose to ignore the griminess around us. Remember when that person blew their nose in the shower the other day? Enough said.
2. The sink is not a garbage disposal.
We all know that feeling when we go to use the sink and we are so grossed about by the ramen noodles or the other random food pieces that we consider skipping washing our hands. They still may be cleaner than the sink.
3. You could make a wig with the hair in the drain.
This takes picking up after yourself to a new level. We all shed, but leaving your hairballs for the next person is slightly repulsive.
4. Your dishes will not wash themselves.
There was a reason we were never allowed to leave our dishes on the counters when we lived at home. No matter how much we want, Mom won't come along and do them for us.
5. Wash your toothpaste out of the sink.

No one wants to see what toothpaste didn't make it on your toothbrush. All it takes is a little water to have a clean sink along with those pearly whites.
6. This is not the laundry room.
Please remember that clean clothes are as important as a clean body. They can’t be washed if they are scattered across the bathroom floor. Plus, some garments should not be seen or shared by the community, if you know what I mean.
7. There should be a permanent air freshener
A “courtesy flush” can only be so effective.
Community bathrooms have way of bringing people closer. Through the good, the bad and the ugly, we learn to really take care of ourselves, even if it is for the sanity of those around us.
