12 Spring Break Activities Every College Kid Needs To Do At LeastĀ Once

If you're a college student you're probably very excited about spring break. Here are some fun activities and ideas for all college students during the break.

Go to the beach

Perhaps the most generic and "college" thing to do over spring break is to hit the beach. Nothing is more relaxing than laying on the beach and listening to the calming sounds of ocean waves. Myrtle Beach and Outer Banks are popular destinations for many college students and may be more affordable than a glamorous trip to Florida.

Travel to New York City

Not feeling the beach? Take a trip to the Big Apple instead. New York City is a fascinating and exciting city to visit, and with spring on its way is likely to be warmer.

Sleep

This is perhaps the most common response that college students say they want to do over spring break. Let's face it: college is exhausting, both emotionally and academically. Nearly everyone is ready for and needs a break from it all. Sleep is the best cure for stress.

Read

Reading ā€” but for fun. Instead of reading that boring textbook for your statistics class, pick up one of your favorite books. It doesn't need to be literary. In fact, pick up that cheesy romance novel from Barnes and Noble. Whatever it is that gets you to de-stress.

Watch Netflix

Ah ā€” spring break. The time to catch up on Netflix and shows. What better way to relax than by watching "Grey's Anatomy" or "Gilmore Girls"? It's an entire week off ā€” so feel free to binge watch your problems away.

Go to Disney World

Disney World is often touted as the happiest place on earth. If you're desperately in need of some magic in your life, take a trip to Disney World and have fun with favorite characters Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. The Magic Kingdom is awaiting you!

Go for a walk/hike

With the weather getting warmer and nicer outside, now is the perfect time to take a leisurely walk. Hiking or even just taking your dog for a walk is a good way to get much-needed exercise and sunshine. Studies show that exposure to sunlight is a natural mood booster.

Thrift shop

Feeling the need to go shopping? Why waste $20 on a single shirt when you can get FIVE shirts for $20? Thrift shopping is a fun and cheap way to go shopping without breaking the bank. Like they say: one person's trash is another person's treasure.

See a movieĀ

With the Oscars just finishing, you may be at a loss for what to watch. However, there are many movies still coming out or out already, usually funny or fluffy ones. If you're bored why not go to the movies with some friends?

Take a road trip

Feeling spontaneous and reckless? Now's the perfect time to take a spur-of-the-moment road trip with friends. Road trips are a great way to bond and make memories with your friends.

Start a new hobby

Although spring break is just a week, it's still enough time to try out a new hobby. Curious about knitting? Why not watch some knitting tutorials and see if it's your thing?

Do nothing

Doing nothing is also a viable and popular activity over break. If you're just mentally and emotionally drained, then this might be the right choice for you. Meditation is also a good idea, as it's been proved to reduce stress and blood pressure.

I hope this list has helped you to figure out what you might want to do over spring break.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
