Pro-Cras-Ti-Na-Tion
Noun—The action of delaying or postponing something: Avoid if at all possible.
I relate more to being a procrastinator than to being an organized well rounded individual.
That's the cold hard truth folks, and I know for a fact that fellow college students will say the same, even if they admit to it or not. Being in college and having loads of responsibilities is the norm, and sometimes it can get so frustrating that we just push off other subjects until the last minute. That just makes the stress ball come out and it becomes a stress-fest.
So let's be real; We procrastinate for so many reasons and each has its own variety of pros and cons. We all get so caught up in other things, and then when it comes time to sit down and focus on a paper or project or even just a 20 page reading from the most interesting book in the world, we still find ways not to do anything.
It can be phones, or it can be social media updates. It can even just be a wandering mind, and 5 minutes can turn into 2 hours later real quick.
I use a planner, and even with my entire schedule laid out, I still find a way to not get even my most basic chores done. I put my other needs first, homework due within the week. After all that is done, I still have a whole new list of chores to do for myself. It's underachieving at the finest level, and even after you start the long overdue homework, it's never going to be as good as the work you take the time to finish and perfect. You may not want to do that horrible chem lab or that 10 page English paper, but putting it off is like feeding fire to a flame, and it will get worse the longer you stay like that. That being said, it won't change overnight. It has taken me over a month to get used to jotting things in a planner instead of scrambling to remember dates of important events. Slow and steady works as silly and cliche as it sounds, just being able to have somewhat of a reference in my life, is more benefit than not having a clue at all.
Procrastination will always be there for some things and situations. However, doesn't mean we can't try to nip it in the bud, without the mini panic attack at the end of a long day.
