11 Halloween MUSTS For The Die-Hard College Student

It's that time of the year again! If you're new to the college scene, you're probably wondering what college students to during Halloween weekend, or how we call it, "Halloweekend." Halloween is one of the weekends that college students look forward to because it's an excuse to throw a party, dress up, act a complete fool, and eat tons of sugar to get rid of the midterm stress. Here are 10 things college students do during Halloweekend:

1. Visit a Haunted House

Giphy

This is a MUST. Who doesn't want to go to a haunted mansion and get scared to death? If you are making plans to go, make sure you go with friends. It makes the experience 10x better and you can all be scared together. (I mean if you are so mature and claim that you aren't afraid of everything, then you should be fine.)

2. Go to a College Halloween party

Giphy

If you don't go to a Halloween college party then you are missing out. It's basically a regular party except you are wearing your favorite costume. You should see how creative people are.

3. Watch scary movies with your friends/significant other

Giphy

This is also one of the best moments of Halloween. if you don't go to a party, you can just stay in and binge all of your favorite scary movies and cuddle with bae. Plus, there will be endless snacks.

4. Go Trick-or-Treating

Giphy

I don't care what anyone says. You are NEVER too old to go trick or treating. I'm stressed, so I need all the candy I can get. Someone might put money in your bag. (People always tell me I look 16 anyway so what's the problem?)

5. Decorate your dorm room with a Halloween theme

Giphy

Some colleges have a decorate-your-door contest, which is fun because you can see what your neighbors came up with. Believe me, there's always that ONE room on your floor who goes all out.

6. Scare your roommates with a Halloween prank

Giphy

Scaring your roommates is one of the best things ever. After that, that's the last time that they'll ever get on your nerves again.

7. Carve a pumpkin

Giphy

Yes, there are many places to get a pumpkin. It's time to put your artistic skills to good use. Carving may seem cliche, but it is so fun if you are doing it with people you want to spend time with.

8. Show up to class in a costume.

Giphy

I knew one girl who wore a different Halloween costume every day for the whole month of October. We were all trying to figure out what she was going to wear on the 31st (and she ended up coming as herself). But if you are going to come in a costume, please don't show up half naked and use the "I'm just here for the Halloween spirit" excuse.

9. Go bar hopping!

Giphy

Seeing a drunk Mummy on Halloween will actually make your day. Who doesn't want to be around drunk college students in costumes?

10. Make Halloween cookies!

Giphy

Those Pillsbury Ready-to-bake cookies really come in the clutch every year. Plus, you can make cookies from scratch and put the icing on and everything. I swear fall is one of the best seasons of the year.

11. If you can't get invited to a party, THROW YOUR OWN!

Giphy

Don't be sad if you don't know anyone yet! It's important to have the best college experience possible! You can't get invited to one? Throw your own

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
