Working as a nanny in college has by far been one of the best decisions I ever made. It may not have the stability of other “normal” college jobs, but it promises a never boring and almost always super fun experience every time you show up to work.

Of course, there’s more to my life than the fact that I am a nanny. But, I would be lying if I said my everyday routine did not rely around the children that I look after.

Mornings are interesting to say the least and are always dependent on my schedule for that specific day. Sometimes I wake up like this;

And other days I wake up like this;

My mornings are always dependent on my schedule for that specific day. For the most part, my job doesn’t start till the kids are about to get out of school, so my mornings consist of early classes that start at 7 am and I'm usually done with the school day by 12 and head to work straight after class.

Most times my job doesn’t start till the kids are in school and I have some time to grab coffee on the way to work. Other days, I head straight over after my class, either to pick the kids up from school on early days or tidy up the house and get things ready for their busy after school lives.

Picking up the kids from school usually include some of the most relatable interactions I have with them, including the famous line; “Why does school have to just be SO much?” To which I reply:

Once I get the kids home from school, it's homework time! But, you know just as most kids would they would obviously rather be doing something else.

My favorite part comes after the homework is done! It's finally time for the kids to have some fun, which means I get to let loose and have some fun too! Like I said earlier, this is without a doubt my favorite part of the whole day simply because there are so many possibilities and so many options. Sometimes I might take the kids to the park and other times we might watch a movie, play video games, or even some board games

I must admit, one of the funniest parts about my job has got to be some of the things the kids say! As many people know kids often have ZERO FILTER, which means that I am usually left shook on a daily basis. Sometimes the things the kids say are absolutely hilarious and occasionally it can even get them in trouble!

Soon, the day draws to a close and when the parents get home, its time for me to say goodbye. This is always sad but also secretly exciting for me. I'm happy I get to go home after a long work day but also sad to say goodbye to the kiddos, especially when they're sad that I have to leave to. So I walk out the door, wave goodbye and I'm on my way!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
