Last week, I wrote an article about the persona of Stetson University students. This week I will dissect those individuals drawn to the Computer Science major.
Computer science draws in people with a certain mentality. These people’s minds function on math, logic, technology, and science. They enjoy learning how to fix things, how to solve problems, and how to put stuff together. Many people majoring in computer science enjoy coding, because it allows them to build and create.
Their minds are analytical in nature, which aids their ability to understand the complexity of computer science. These people love creative problem-solving, but can become so focused on that aspect that they forget to plan their work out. They are data-focused. People want results but computer science majors can provide the necessary details.
Technology is a passion for most computer science majors. They will do anything they can with technology in their spare time. This passion forces them to be flexible and adaptable. Technology changes and evolves so quickly that these people must learn how to work with the changes.
One can often find computer science majors hidden away, sitting in front of a computer in the dark. They prefer darker areas, tend to be night owls, and often pull all-nighters to finish projects. When not working, these people can be seen gaming. They have an abundance of patience, except when dealing with a slow internet connection, and they love explaining every little detail about a computer process, no matter how long that takes.
Stay tuned for next week’s college major persona!
