Basically every girl knows the famous TV show "Gossip Girl." Well, if you don't, are you sure you are living in the right decade? Everyone couldn't get enough of Chuck and Blaire, to the point that they became a "relationship goal." No one could really keep up with Serena considering how flaky she was and how she just couldn't commit to anything. Nate was always trying to get his dad out of financial predicaments, and Dan was in-and-out of "lonely boy" until that one day he shocked us all and spilled the beans about being Gossip Girl all along.
Girls all over discovered "Gossip Girl" was on Netflix, and that was the end of any social involvement. We were all that person that would start one episode and tell ourselves, "Just this one episode, and I'll do my homework." Well, there were many times where homework was just less of a priority than "Gossip Girl." One episode turned into three, which turned into finishing the season. You just couldn't get enough. Getting one step closer to finding out who Gossip Girl was even sounded better than sleep some nights.
We all became familiar with the characters and even began to see ourselves in some of them. "I'm Blaire, and you're Serena." Sitting on the Met steps became something to check off our bucket lists one day, and finding a Chuck Bass was what every girl was looking for. Soon enough, we finished all the seasons, and some of us even re-watched it just to see if we missed something. Before long we began to relate things that happened in the show to our everyday lives.
So, here is college life told by "Gossip Girl":
To that boy our freshman year we fell for that was talking to more girls than just us.
The advice our parents try to give us when we feel like dropping out .
When you suddenly don't communicate with the people you went to high school with because you now have new friends.
When finals are over, and you and the squad go out.
When you had a little too much fun the night before.
When you stay up until 3 a.m. studying for a test, and you barely know anything on it.
When you notice that you didn't make the lowest grade in the class.
When you have to stay in town when everyone goes home for break.
When your parents can't tell you what to eat for dinner.
When that one person comes to class in their pajamas.
When you make a 89.4 B as your final grade.
When you prove to your parents you really could live by yourself.
When you go home for Thanksgiving break, and your entire family asks if you have a boyfriend yet.
To that one person in class who answers every question the professor asks.
It's funny how most of us can relate to every single one of these. Who knew a simple show could make a conversation with a group of girls that ultimately might become best friends. So, we thank you "Gossip Girl" for the advice and entertainment.
We'll always love you,
xoxo
