College is said to be some of the greatest and toughest years of your life. It turns out that is 100 percent true. Since starting college two years ago, so many things have happened. I’ve made new friends, experienced living on my own, and taken part in different clubs and organizations, among many other things. On the other hand, I’ve taken some tough classes, had some rough softball games, dealt with losing a friend, and other small things. College is a time for growing, learning, loving, crying, smiling, failing and, of course, succeeding.
During the summers of high school, I dreaded getting back in the mindset for school. Going to class every day for almost 8 hours just wasn’t appealing. I had the same routine every day, saw the same people, and it got boring after a while. Being in college is actually something to look forward to. As much as I love summer, I love the college experience even more. After three months off, I am ready to go back and see friends, to interact with the best professors and learn something from them.
Seeing all my Tri Delta sisters, having cookouts for the whole campus, and meeting the new softball recruits are also things I look forward to. I get to talk to new people every day and learn more and more each day. It is such a different experience than high school. It is something to be excited about at the end of summer and not dread going to. The first week before classes start so emotions are present.
It’s sad since we will all be on our own away from home, but comforting that we have such good friends to be good company. Seeing people that you haven’t seen for months is so exciting. You get to catch up on how summer went and how the year will go. It’s all stress free fun before classes start and the work begins. There are always cookouts, time to meet the new freshman, time to hangout watching a soccer game or a movie on tv.
The atmosphere during that welcome week is so friendly and light. It is a good way to start another great year. It is interesting to see the differences between the levels of school. During college you are making decisions to affect your future, which is exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. It is a great time to learn new thing and grow as a person.
