I’ll be honest, school started less than a month ago and I already feel like I’m drowning *sprays Bath & Body Works Stress Relief*. Can it be summer break yet? The weird thing is, over the summer I actually could not wait to go back to school. I’m one of those people that loves being busy. But as of right now, I think I love the idea of being busy rather than actually being busy. The busier you are, the more inevitable stress becomes.
I think some people forget others are in the same boat as they are. Instead, they think they’re the only ones that have things to do. And somehow they let you know exactly what they need to get done before they actually do it. Even when you say you’re also busy, it’s never as busy as they are. Being busy is the “norm” in college, but sometimes I feel people try to turn it into a competition.
College is not a competition to see how busy you are. It’s how you handle yourself through it. Haven’t you heard the phrase “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it” by Charles R. Swindoll? It’s important to remember everyone has different limits. What’s busy to you is different from what’s busy to me.
I think as a generation we’ve become very quick at voicing our opinions instead of actually listening to what other people have to say. We sometimes act like we don’t care what others are doing or studying in school. Sometimes people put down other people's choice of majors because of what they’ve heard. No one major is better than another. Every major is equally as hard, but in different ways.
College is supposed to be best years of your life. The best, yet, most stressful part of your life to date. It’s learning how to live on your own, and handling your own responsibilities, balancing classes, homework, clubs, sports, friends, etc. that make college a busy time. Everyone is busy.
