College As Told By Harry Potter

Because college wouldn't be complete without Harry and the gang.

Let's face it, college is an emotional roller coaster full of sleepless nights, fun with friends, exams, classes and Union food. Harry Potter and all of the characters have special insight on this. From moving away from home to an environment most unfamiliar for Harry, to the O.W.L examinations and crazy shenanigans over seven years.

We do not have to worry about He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named and duels and potions class, but we have professors, sports, and chemistry, which is kind of similar, right? Less interesting for sure, but similar. Here's a look at the college academic year roller coaster as told by Harry Potter.

1. Move-In Day

Saying good-bye to our families and going off on our own for the first time, being able to make our own decisions when just a few months ago we had to ask to go to the bathroom.

2. Advantage Weekend

Ah, Advantage Weekend. The time here at Northwest where all the incoming freshman get a chance to meet new people and mingle (even if we don't want to).

3. First day of classes

IT'S TIME YOU PAY ATTENTION AND LEARN SOMETHING, RON WEASLEY. Something Snape would totally say, right?

4. The night before your first exam

Shitshitshitshitshit I am NOT PREPARED FOR ANY OF THIS. *cramcramcramcramcram*

5. Midterms week

Our first real midterms week, where we encounter some of our first all-nighters and begin our love affair with Red Bull or caffeine.

6. The week before finals week

There's only one more week between me and break but I just want to cry because I just want to watch Netflix but I need to learn everything about statistics and mitosis and the cardiovascular system *-*

7. Finals week

This may have just been the nerd in me, but when I took my very first college final I had thoughts back to this exact scene because I honestly had no clue what was going on.

8. Christmas break

What to even do with all this free time? So much time for activities!

9. Returning from Christmas break

I would much rather be sleeping... Slightly questioning my decision to go to college.

10. Second midterms week

YOU GOT THIS. WE'VE DONE THIS ONCE. YOU GOT THIS.

11. Realizing you have less than a month of classes between you and four months of summer

So close to being done! One of four (or more) years under the belt.. Wicked.

12. The last week of classes before finals

Shitshitshitshit this went by way too fast and I have to learn all of the things by next week.

13. Finals week before summer

Cut that head off. Cut that finals head off. Show it who's boss.

14. Graduation

Okay, so more for seniors (or super seniors, if that's you). Throw yo hats up in the air sayin', "Ayo, got a degree tho."

15. Summer break

Sweet. Freedom.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
