Picture this: it’s a Monday morning after a crazy and sleepless weekend. You wake up not feeling too great, and hope it will pass over by the afternoon. Unfortunately, it does not. By the evening, you have a 101 fever and a horrific cough. What do you do? Thoughts of failing your classes and never having a social life again may cross your mind, but have no fear! If you follow these simple steps, then you will be healthy again in no time.
1. Water
The first thing you should do when you start to feel sick is to drink water. It will help flush away any toxins within you, and it keeps you hydrated as well. Water is love, water is life. Don’t forget about it, for it may save you many days of illness.
2. Advil
If you realize that you have a fever, then pop the Advil ASAP. Sometimes, when a fever goes too long without medicine it can reach dangerous temperatures such as 104. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
3. Fruit
Vitamin C is always a must when it comes to being sick! Whether you get an acai bowl or a Jamba Juice, both will make you feel a bit better. Don’t forget to add an immunity boost!
4. Netflix
If you are anything like me, then the thought of missing class leaves you with a panicky feeling. I never want to miss a lecture or fall behind on homework, but in some cases I need to. The only way to get better from a sickness is to have lots of rest, and that will not happen if you are walking around campus from one class to the next. So, lay in your bed, turn on your favorite series on Netflix, and sleep the day away.
5. Parents
I absolutely love college and all of the freedom it has to offer, but being sick can really make me miss home. I miss home-cooked meals from my mom, and cuddling with my dog. Calling your family will distract you from your symptoms, and they always know how to make you feel better.
6. Sleep
I know it’s hard to miss the toga party or exchange with the best frat on campus, but you will never get better if you do not rest for a weekend. Trust me, there will be other parties. It’s not worth falling even more behind and risk your G.P.A. dropping.
