As my first semester in college comes to an end, here are 30 things I've learned that I hope future freshman will learn early too...

1. It's okay to miss class once every so often

2. You really do become glued to your college email

3. Money goes fast

4. Studying for a week before a test will pay off

5. You'll gain weight... it's inevitable

6. Getting extra help from the professor and going to office hours will make them notice your effort, and in turn they'll give you better grades

7. Cafeteria food gets old real quick... but you're too poor to go out and buy something

8. It's impossible to wake up before 10 AM no matter how much sleep you got the night before

9. You'll plan to go to the gym often... but something always comes up

10. Microwave meals from Walmart are the only things you can afford

11. There is an extra curricular for everyone on a college campus

12. Tailgating is a sport of it's own

13. You miss your family more than you think

14. You even miss your parents cooking, which you thought you hated

15. The library is a comforting second home

16. Thursdays are the new Fridays

17. Thanksgiving break is a much needed and well deserved break before the chaos of finals

18. Your roommates will always be there for you

19. Never say no to extra credit

20. Always take advantage of tabling with free things

21. Free t-shirts are the best t-shirts

22. Using rate my professor before choosing classes REALLY pays off

23. You call your mom a lot just to talk

24. Make as many memories as you can; only say no to going out if you REALLY need to

25. It always feels better to walk back to your room at night with someone else. Don't walk alone no matter how safe your campus is

26. The RA may seem strict but they're usually pretty cool

27. The best time to do laundry is late at night

28. Don't forget about your laundry or someone will take it out

29. School spirit is everything

30. College really isn't as bad as everyone made it out to be

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
