The first few weeks of college are exciting for everyone especially freshmen since it's really their first time being on their own. When you first get on campus and classes start, you can generally spot them pretty quickly due to these 11 signs.

1. You can always see their keys/ID.

Sometimes they are hanging around their necks or they're swinging them when walking. Either way, you can usually see it. Soon they learn to put it in their bookbag or pocket.

2. They travel in packs.

Two or three people are usually normal, but somehow there ends up being seven or eight of them walking together. Crazy.

3. They "dress up" a little to go to class.

Everyone usually looks nice the first few days of class, but they take it to the extreme with how much they dress up. Just wear sweats and t-shirts like the rest of us.

4. They're always looking for ways to meet new people.

I'm all for people getting involved around campus, but I remember my roommates and I freshman year saying hi to literally every person we saw. It was kind of creepy.

5. They carry around a map of campus.

I'd recommend just looking on your phone next time. It's less obvious.

6. They use a tray when getting food.

Just carry it. You aren't walking very far, and this isn't a cafeteria.

7. They complain about the fire drills in the resident halls.

They're really annoying and usually at 2 am, so I really don't blame them for complaining.

8. They're usually looking for the best parties to go to over the weekend.

Of course. They just earned some freedom, and it is probably their first time away from home. You did it, too. Don't lie.

9. They constantly wear college apparel.

Sometimes I don't think they own anything else.

10. They buy their books from the bookstore.

Don't do it. It's a rip-off. Chegg and Amazon are the way to go.

11. They flood the dining halls until they realize there are more places to eat.

Don't even think about going one day to think about old times Every seat is going to be taken, so you're better off waiting until they found out where else they can eat.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
