College is an adventure, to say the least. What we plan never goes our way although that is the universe's motto.
Our first day of freshman year, whether you are 19 or 39, has so many changes attached to it.
You have to get back into a groove of which there are no guidelines. You have to make your own schedule now, get up early, do homework, make flash cards, meet strangers, spend countless hours in a library cubical to prepare for finals; you have to adult in a whole new way.
No matter your age, you are in for quite a treat.
There are so many people, strangers doing the same exact thing, and somehow all of our adventures tell a different story. We should all be extremely grateful that we even have the option or opportunity to go to college — to be able to choose that path that we want, make our own decisions and live life by our rules.
Life isn’t just about getting that piece of paper and a 9-5 job. It’s about creating yourself. It's about finding your passions and pursuing them. Failing, getting up and trying again only fail one more time. Feeling like an outcast, because then you really learn to love yourself for who you are. Don’t follow — make your own path and get lost. Take a wrong train in a new city. Stare at the birds in the trees. Always take time for yourself.
We may not have it all figured it out right now, but that’s OK. There is no book to life that guides us along. We are blind going in and have to make of us from what we can see. Always keep your head up high and when things go wrong. I don’t want to spoil the ending, but know that everything will be OK.
