Every August, millions of newly graduated high school seniors will take the next step in their lives. For many, that next step will be going to the university of their choice. This is a very exciting time in a persons' life. The anticipation of all the new experiences will drive many incoming freshmen borderline insane (I would know, I just got over it). A major thing incoming students will get excited for are the social aspects of college, which include a mysterious yet beautiful concept of house parties.
Now, just because you're excited for house parties doesn't mean you're ready. Sure, you probably had a number of memorable and out-of-hand nights in high school, but this is college and the game has completely changed.
For success at the next level, out of the classroom, following these guidelines would be a great start:
1. Everyone will know you're a freshman, there's no avoiding it.
2. Make sure you come with cash, parties cost money.
3. Act respectful, no one cares how much you 'raged' in high school.
4. Go with the flow.
5. Don't be that guy/girl that's too drunk to handle himself/herself. It's a bad look.
6. Reputations will follow you, so act accordingly.
7. If the cops come, don't run.
8. When it comes to beer pong, house rules matter more than yours (also know the general rules).
9. Try your absolute hardest not to wear cargo shorts. If you do, you are taking your personal embarrassment into your own hands.
10. However, the most important thing to know is that everyone just wants to have fun. So, relax, follow these guidelines, and have a good time!
