Perfectly curated photo ops and insanely generous swag bags were only the beginning of a fun night out in Brooklyn.
College Fashion Week is an annual event hosted by Her Campus that celebrates college women from all walks of life. On two nights in Boston and New York City, Her Campus members came together to network, take part in fun activities, and watch a fashion show exhibiting Fall's latest trends. Boasting sponsors from the brands EOS, Primark, and Sabre, guests enjoyed being showered in gifts with the most fabulous essentials, as well as seeing models strut wearable and stylish pieces down the runway.
Swag bags for a makeup lover's dreams
by Christina Giordano
A ticket for College Fashion Week cost $20, but the value of what guests received in free swag more than doubled this ticket price! Privy to a tote bag full of well thought out and valuable gifts, attendees left the event with the tools to look and feel beautiful. Highlights of what was inside the bag included a Too Faced bronzer/highlight duo, an amazing scented Bath and Bodyworks aromatherapy spray, an Almay eyeshadow pallet, a Primark gift card, and many more exclusive items that are essential to college life. The time and effort that went into making the swag bags were greatly appreciated by all who attended, as the goodies inside provided guests with the means to feel empowered.
Motivational messages and aesthetic photo spacesĀ
by Christina Giordano
The venue layout in Brooklyn Studios was decked out in all things pink, Her Campus style. Past the check-in table, an Almay cafƩ and Ulta beauty bar lined the walls leading way to a set of four aesthetic photo spaces and a ball pit filled with lavender EOS. Wall art with the phrases, "The future is female" and "What makes you different is what makes you beautiful" served as motivational messages that spoke to the overall theme of the night: empowerment. Next to the EOS ball pit, guests could write words of encouragement on a blank white wall under a College Fashion Week sign. Guests felt like celebrities for the night as professional photographers snapped pictures of everyone in the photo spaces. Equipped with great cameras and ring lights, every picture of the event was Instagram worthy.
Bonding activities and beauty stations
by Christina Giordano
After taking pictures with friends and fellow chapter members, guests could grab snacks and get to know one another better. A friendship bracelet booth provided members with an opportunity to make their own jewelry with cute charms. Just past this station, makeup artists and hair dressers offered their talents to make guests feel glam at an Ulta beauty bar. So many girls took advantage of this opportunity and they walked away with stunning braids, glowing skin, and a boost in confidence.
The Real Runway
by Christina Giordano
The main highlight of the night was the models who walked down the Real Runway. Meant to capture the image of realistic women, everyone who watched the show could relate to a girl who modeled for the event. The Real Runway was an inclusive and body positive experience where girls could embrace their natural beauty as they modeled clothing perfect for a college wardrobe. The Real Runway showed everyone that fashion is all about expressing yourself, and challenged the idea that girls need to fit a certain mold.
Outfit inspo and a girl boss in action
Aside from the stylish looks modeled on the Real Runway, a glance around the venue proved that every girl who attended the event was worthy of being a model. Guests went all out and pulled up in the trendiest clothes, serving as outfit inspiration for the rest of the Fall season to come. The best part of the night was listening to the fabulous Windsor Western MC for the night. Queen/co-founder of Her Campus, Windsor was the ultimate girl boss in action. She along with the rest of the Her Campus team served as inspiration for our life goals.
