When your parents send you off to college, they typically tell you "Study, study, study and build a future for yourself." Sure college is about studying and building a future for yourself, but it is also about experiencing a new lifestyle, even if a part of that lifestyle includes partying and doing whatever your heart desires... It's just that our parents never really know exactly what is happening at college. Here is a list of what your parents think you're doing college vs what you're actually doing.
1. The Thursday night escape
Ah, Thursday nights... the night where we let out the stress of the Sunday-Wednesday grind (At least the lucky ones without Friday classes) Normally our parents would assume we're staying in and sleeping the night off but we're actually out...
2. Food
Parents typically think the food in college is actually as it is advertised (Heavenly goodness and we can eat whatever want) But what they don't see is that much of this food is actually affordable at most times and tiny portions
3. Money
When you tell your parents you need money, they're probably thinking to themselves, "Aw, he ran out of money for food, here's some to go to target and buy what you need or what you need from the school store." But actually, you're budgeting how many beers or bottles you could buy from the liquor store for the weekend.
4. Spring semester
As Spring semester approaches, many of us think schools almost over and summer's around the corner, however, spring semester means darty season. But for your parents Spring semester actually means finals time and studying time.
5. Cleanliness
Unless you were a mess when you were a back home, typically your parents would assume that you and your roommate(s) maintain yourself and your rooms as you should. Keeping everything clean but in reality... you actually show up to class moat days in sweats with your hair up or if you're a guy you don't really care how you dress to class and many of us, let our facial hair go wild.
6. Classes
Sure going to class is extremely important for just about any college student, but for our parents, classes are a must, each and every single one must be attended with complete attention. But, for us, college students, sometimes just one class could be missed.
