College Confessions

College has its highs and its lows. Before you can walk across the stage and receive your diploma, here are some confessions that make sense whether you're a freshman or a senior.

1. Whenever you move into your dorm for the first time you're full of excitement, but as soon as your parent's car pulls away it's inevitable you'll miss them.

2. You'll find them, just give it time. Your friend group that you have freshman year probably won't be the same as senior year. You have four years. You'll grow as a person and your friendships will reflect that.

3. I don't know if it's that college changes a person or that they become more free to come into themselves, but you'll probably outgrow some of your home friends. The friendships that are meant to be will find their way.

4. Once you find your people, you'll realize what it means to have true friends.

5. Most skills that you learn in college don't come from a classroom.

6. Connections. Connections. Connections.

7. It's never too late to study what interests you. Oftentimes people end up in jobs they never expected, so be open to the experiences and find your passion. Don't give up!

8. School is important, but your health is even more important. Don't be afraid to take a mental health day and there is no shame in getting help from professionals.

9. I know it's easy to just take syllabus week off, but it's better to start a schedule now than to fall behind. The key to college is budgeting your time.

10. You're there for a reason and it will work out. You are enough.

11. You may not be the smartest person in the room, but everyone has something to bring to the table. Find out what sets you apart.

12. Getting an A might be the goal, but it's not all that matters. You'll win some and lose some... just don't let one bad grade make you give up!

13. You will inevitably have to work on a group project. Make the best of it.

14. Get to know your professors early on in the semester and make a couple friends in each class. That way, you always have someone to go over the material with.

15. Take advantage of all the resources that your tuition pays for. It may seem like a great option to procrastinate, but it probably isn't.

16. Enjoy it. All of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
