College Can Make You Or Break You

College can become one of the most stressful events of your life while at the same time the most fun, magical experiences that you could never imagine.

College is filled with a bunch of crazy events that you would never see coming. For instance, you are basically still in high school; drama, drama, drama everywhere. Classes are long, some you may feel are completely pointless but you need it in order to graduate. Reading your assignments takes days and after you are done with that reading, you have about 18 more hours of reading to do before your 7:45 class tomorrow. The food normally sucks, except the day they have chicken tenders and mac-n-cheese, and you have to wait in the 20 minute line before you get only three strips and a small amount of mac. Clubs, sports, and activities take over all of your free time so that it looks good on your job resume. And you can absolutely forget about sleeping. You will only get three hours of sleep a night because of either the work load, loud neighbors or you are too busy catching up on Netflix and Hulu.

The weekends are the only time that you have more than five minutes to relax. You spend half the day sleeping because you are about two weeks behind. Then, when you finally decide to get out of your bed, you catch up on TV, read a book, or hang with friends. Next you want to go out and do something because you were stuck at your college for three weeks straight and want to rediscover the outside world. When you finally get back, you hear about some party that is going on and you and your roommates spend three hours getting ready and starting your pre-party. Finally, when you walk back to the dorm it is already three in the morning and you sleep until one the next afternoon. Finishing your weekend with the homework hustle.

College causes a lot of stress, and I mean the kind of stress that causes a person to have a premature nervous breakdown. A student can be brought to the point where you do not want to do anything but sleep in your spare time, but then again, you don't have the time to nap anymore because you have a homework mountain to finish. The truth is that college can either make or break you.

The truth behind what is really is like to be in college is that it is magical. You live with roommates that quickly become your family. You spend real quality time with each other. The greatest feeling is when you come back from the weekend and they run up and ask you how it was and that they missed you. You make friends with the crazy people down the hall, then it comes to the point where you want to room with them the next semester because you cannot imagine a life where you do not get to see them.

The activities at college are so much fun and either free or cost little to nothing. You get to go to movie premiers, the zoo, amusement parks, and have a concert right in your back yard with a band that you have always wanted to meet. Your college wants to make sure that you get your money's worth while attending their school.

College can make you or break you. The truth is that college can be stressful. College can also be magical. That all depends on how you want to spend four years of your life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
