Well, it is almost finals week. This means that all college students will be flooding coffee shops and cozy corners to put their nose into a book and study away. It only seemed fitting to provide a solid go-to list for the best coffee shops in the Northeastern Oklahoma area. If you are anything like me, you have probably been to a few of these and are always looking for a cute new one. Let's be honest, we all have our favorite!
1. The Phoenix
The Phoenix is the home of the Phoenix mocha. Just your typical mocha with a hint of heat from the cayenne pepper added. They also have some pretty amazing food. Their mac and cheese is homemade and one of my favorites. The Phoenix is also home to the cozy book room, because who doesn't love the smell of books and coffee? It also has the main room where they will have live music occasionally! Plus, there's a cute park across the street.
2. The Gypsy
The Gypsy is located in the Art District of downtown Tulsa in a really neat historical building. This place is a prime example of eclectic style, and if you are anything like me, that is totally your thing. They have yummy pastries and a really cool room with a painted galaxy ceiling. The Gypsy definitely draws a unique crowd. Last time I was there, there was a guy playing Pink Floyd on electric guitar with an amp he brought. He had a pretty sweet afro, too!
3. Coffee House on Cherry Street
This place has the strangest names for their drinks, ranging from Honey Badger (my personal fave) to Polar Bear. Its location—right in the middle of Cherry Street—makes it a huge hit on the weekends. The cozy sofas and dim lighting make it even more appealing. It is a great place to meet up with friends and have a delicious (and gluten free) breakfast or lunch! Their waffles can't be beat!
4. Ludger's Bavarian Cakery
Ludger's is famous for its amazing Bavarian cake, which is basically the best thing you have ever experienced. However, not many people know that Ludger's also has some delicious coffee and a great atmosphere to meet up with friends or crack down on some homework. The great thing about this place is that you can actually buy some Bavarian cake by the slice to go with your coffee. Cake and coffee? Yes, please!
5. Foolish Things Coffee Co.
Foolish Things is located just outside of downtown Tulsa. It is a great place for those who like the more modern and sleek style. They serve some real coffee—and by real, I mean they aren't into the really "girly" drinks with all the syrup and flavoring. Their coffee is great, and the big open windows in the front serve as a beautiful view of downtown at night.
6. 918 Coffee
Conveniently located close to the University of Tulsa campus, this makes for a great place to meet up with friends and drink some amazing coffee. It is usually not super busy, making for a great place to have some Jesus time or do some homework!
7. Topeca Coffee
Topeca is most famous for being roasted in good ol' Tulsa, Oklahoma. Multiple coffee shops in the area actually use Topeca coffee. A lot of people don't know that there is an actual Topeca coffee shop located in the bottom of the Mayo Hotel, right in the middle of downtown! Their coffee is to die for, considering it is incredibly fresh, and their food is unbelievable, too. If you aren't into coffee too much, try their chai tea latte. It is so good!
8. All About Cha
My little sister and best friend obviously approve of All About Cha, located across the street from the BOK Center. My whole family enjoys All About Cha's variety of drinks ranging from smoothies, teas, and coffee. They have one of the best mochas in all of Tulsa, if you ask me. They call it a Cocoa Latte Freddo. My sister loves their Blackberry Latte Freddo, which is blackberry tea with milk and honey then blended with ice. It is unique and healthier than a smoothie! They also have some amazing food, like their Banana Split Waffle Sundae, which will pretty much change your world. It also has a great atmosphere with huge windows so you can see what is going on in downtown while you enjoy your drink and Waffle Sundae!
There are so many more amazing coffee shops in the Tulsa area to check out. You can try Scoops and Grinds in Collinsville, which has ice cream and coffee—my two favorites! You could check out Cappuccino Corner in Claremore, a local favorite. Doubleshots is great, too! I love going coffee shop hopping with my best friends and trying new ones all the time. Go out and find your personal favorite and before long you'll realize you're quite the coffee shop hopper, too.
