This past Thursday at my college, Jacksonville State University, the Secular Student Alliance hosted their second annual Cocky Queens drag show. It was nothing but a night of pure fun. I loved every second of the entertainment that was provided, and I loved it even more because they raised money for an awesome cause.

All the proceeds raised (OVER $700.00 I might add) went to Magic City Acceptance Center in Birmingham, AL which helps LGBTQ youth that have been rendered homeless for whatever reason. Each queen performed at least two songs, and I figured I would take you through a summation of how the night went.

Each queen had an amazing performance, and as a student at JSU, I am overwhelmed and immensely grateful for the acceptance and equality that my university has for everyone. JSU truly leaves no student left out. The night started out with an opening number from the host, Kandi Kane, who knocked it out of the park with hilarious jokes and just an overall sense of "kween" style. (Each picture is from 1 out of the 2 performances each queen gave.)

After entertainment from our wonderful emcee, we were graced with a first performance by Kendra Gyny who, of course, knocked it out of the park. Like seriously, those shoes?! I can't!

Second came MilkyJuicy who was literally slayed. She looks better than me. No doubt.

Then came Nikolaila who blew us all away with TWO outfit changes mid-performance. It is amazing what a fur coat can do.

Fourth came Victoria A. Jewelle who owns and operates Club 322 in Montgomery, AL. If yall are ever down that way-- check it out! These performances were flawless as well.

Now, Mindi Michelle. This queen literally is the epitome what it means to be a drag queen. Her performance was nothing short of AMAZING. She had the whole house rocking and incorporated flawlessly executed gymnastics into her routine. Gymnastics in HIGH HEELS. A true queen.

I saved the best for last because one of our very own JSU students was in the drag show. It takes the most insane amount of courage to do something like this in front of your peers, and she knocked it OUT OF THE PARK.

Jackie Coxxx was amazing. Hands down. I included the picture of the wig snatch and shoes off because girrrl, what better way to know this queen was having the time of her life!

Overall, the night was definitely one to remember. I am so excited that the Secular Student Alliance put on the drag show for the second year in a row, and raised money for an amazing cause. If you know anyone who is LGBTQ and homeless, lost, or just in need of a friend-- direct them to the Magic City Wellness Center in Birmingham.

They do amazing things for this community, and I am so proud that one area of my state is doing leaps and bounds to help out in any way that they can.

If you are ever interested in learning more about SSA, they have meetings on Monday's in room 202 in Martin Hall located on the JSU campus.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
