Halloween, it was great having you around but now it is time to focus on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's officially the holiday season and the season of red cups from Starbucks. We are nearing the days where families gather to eat an insane amount of turkey and ham with some pumpkin pie to round it all out. It's also the time for those Christmas party invites to be flooding your inbox. You know the ones where you wear the insanely tacky Christmas sweater that you bought at the Goodwill or stole from your Grandma. If you are hosting a party this year or maybe want to pass the time by at a dreadful party then you'll need cocktails. These are some simple and easy cocktails that taste great and make you feel super Christmas-y inside.
1. Butterscotch Bliss
Sweet Bliss! If you love Butterscotch then this is your drink. It has Bailey's Irish Cream, Jager, butterscotch schnapps, cinnamon schnapps, lemon zest and half-and-half all mixed together. Raw sugar is coated on the rim and a dash of cinnamon rounds it off. It's best to use a Martini glass for this drink. More details on this blissful drink here.
2. Peppermint Hot Chocolate
It's not the holiday season without some hot chocolate but this hot chocolate has a bang to it. This recipe calls for this to be made in a slow cooker but you can make it on the stove top if you don't have a slow cooker—cause nobody really has a slow cooker. You will need evaporated milk, chocolate liqueur, peppermint schnapps, a bag of dark chocolate chips, whipped cream and of course a peppermint stick. The best glass to use for this drink is a mug because it is a hot drink. For recipe details.
3. Irish Eggnog
My two favorite drinks Eggnog and Irish Whiskey. It is a match made in heaven. Seriously. This recipe suggests that you use your slow cooker to keep the drinks warm but if you don't have a slow cooker, use your stove top (again, slow cooker, really?). You'll need an egg, Irish liqueur, Irish whiskey and whole milk. Now the question is what type of Irish whiskey should I use? There should be no question about it, always use Jameson as your Irish Whiskey. For recipe details visit this site.
4. Champagne Bourbon
Champagne and Bourbon?! Waaa?! This is for the host that doesn't want to shake 100 different drinks for guests. It's simple and easy, plus everyone loves Champagne. You'll need vanilla beans, sugar, water, sparkling wine, and Bourbon. Now the question might arise of what Bourbon to use. This recipe calls for Woodford Reserve which is actually a good Bourbon. You can use any Bourbon just so long as it is good Bourbon. For more recipe details.
5. Holiday Party Punch
Throwing a party on a budget? Then this is your drink. It takes less than five minutes to make and most of the ingredients are relatively cheap to buy. You'll need cranberry juice, sparkling cider, ginger ale, lemon juice, orange slices and vodka. You'll be the life of party all while staying under budget. Winning. For recipes details.
Remember to never drink and drive. A lot of exciting events are happening in 2016 so you should be there to experience it.
