Festival-goers across the country are now counting down the final hours until the much-anticipated Coachella kicks off its first weekend this upcoming Friday. Lucky ticket owners are busy planning their outfits, while simultaneously biting their nails over when the official set times will be released, allowing them to cry, rejoice or get even more excited who they will and won’t be able to see over the three-day festival. With a wide range of genres and artists gracing the stages in the Polo Fields this year, everywhere from country singer, Chris Stapleton, to old school rapper, Ice Cube the attendees are definitely in for a spectacular year. Here is a list of some of the acts you cannot miss this Coachella season.
LCD Soundsystem
Fans are ready for James Murphy to return after his hiatus since 2011, and what a perfect place to bring back his dance-punk act then opening night of Coachella? His performance in the Polo Fields will be followed by a big tour, but we think Coachella found the perfect headliner for their hipster-prone crowd.
Guns N’ Roses
If there is hype over the lineup for Coachella this year, Guns N’ Roses is the founding father of the excitement. With ACDC absolutely blowing it out of the water last year as Coachella’s reunion band, Guns N’ Roses will be taking us to “Paradise City.” Despite Axl’s newly injured foot, with all the members on stage, we couldn’t be more excited to see what they have in store for us.
Jack U
Another dance music act you shouldn’t miss. The dynamic duo, featuring Skrillex and Diplo will perform opening night as well, and with their massive hit “Where R U Now” one could hope (or sulk) at the thought of a Justin Beiber appearance on stage.
Ice Cube
Ice Cube is one of the greatest live hip-hop performers of all time, you would be crazy not to see him deliver his hard-hitting anthems to concert-goers at Coachella Saturday. The N.W.A rapper is kicking off his tour this weekend, and we couldn’t be happier to be his first stop along the road.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will be returning to Indio this year with fresh new tracks and to continue to playfully engage the audience throughout their set. Despite the absence of original female lead, Jade Castrinos after she left the band in 2014, fans can still be excited about their energetic tracks, and belting it out to their most notable song, “Home.”
The Chainsmokers
This EDM duo seems to be on the top of their game after releasing 11 singles over the past year, each equally as successful as the last. Whoever doesn’t want to be recklessly dancing along to “Roses,” “Kanye” or “Don’t Let Me Down” Sunday evening, should really re-consider what they think of as a good time.
The 1975
I consider this UK-bred band one of the most underrated acts on the lineup this year, when in reality, they shouldn’t be. If you haven’t heard their alternative-rock tunes yet, you certainly will, as they are definitely an act you will not want to miss.
Chris Stapleton
The indie and rock enthusiastic crowd will find out what all the fuss is about country singer Chris Stapleton. The grammy nominee and the 2015 Country Music Association Awards’ big winner will take the stage not only both Coachella weekends but the following weekend at Stagecoach. The crowd might expect more blues coming from his guitar strings than country and most likely some impressive covers.
Gary Clark Jr.
Clark is a terrific guitarist and singer, who’s music is heavily influenced by blues, jazz, soul, country and hip-hop. He his infamously known for his distorted guitar sound and smooth vocals and will be the perfect act to take a seat in the grass to hang out and escape the craziness of Coachella.
Vince Staples
Representing Coachella’s West Coast vibe, rapper Vince Staples will be a good hip-hop addition with his intense storytelling fused with his ground-shaking bass. His debut album “Summertime 06,” received good attention and will provide a good vibe alongside Ice Cube’s act on Saturday.
