Teachers are under appreciated. They do not have a three month vacation like we think, but are constantly working and improving their lesson plans. They're not paid enough for everything they deal with on a daily basis. Most people thinks it's easy to become a teacher but they don't realize a teacher's certificate doesn't make you a teacher. Yes, there are plenty of people who should not teach because teaching is a passion and a talent that not everyone has. Actual teacher's are the ones who don't stick exactly to the criteria but want to help their students understand the material, not train them to memorize a sequences of patterns that show up on standardlized testing. They want their students to want to learn and develop their own mindset, not be another statistic. Hopefully everyone has had that one teacher or coach who has impacted their life the better.
Education is an important factor for society. We tend to blame public education for issues with the younger generations. Maybe if we let teachers share their knowledge and wisdom instead of a Board of Education member, who has never been inside a classroom, decide what the kids need to know. It's frustrating but it won't stop the few good teachers from teaching the students more than to answer a question in complete sentences. We're all guilty of memorizing information right before a test and forgetting it within a day. We shouldn't be learning how to get good grades but learning how to use the information given to us. The mind is a grand thing, it's a waste to not use it. It's easy to read a book to obtain information, but we have teachers to help us understand. They help guide us, without pushing us to conform to the majority. Despite popular belief, they want us to be individuals and have our own opinion about things. A good teacher won't fail you for thinking differently but question it to push you to think more in depth.
Teachers want you to be successful because they see the potential in their students. Teachers may seem like Santan's minions at times when they assign a ridiculous amount of work, but they're always there to help. A problem with schools, is that we're afraid to ask questions. It's okay to voice your thoughts and ask questions when you don't understand. It's better than a silent classroom. Teachers and classmates are not there to make fun of you but promote thinking. There's worth in what you have to say, if there wasn't then teachers wouldn't ask for your thoughts. They're there to teach you and help you develop skills for life. Meaning knowing how to divide polynomials isn't useless to a well rounded person and learning how to understand poetry isn't wasted on a future engineer. Honestly, you'll have more bad teachers than good most of the time. When you do get a good teacher, they will impact your life in some way and encourage you to strive forward. Hopefully you have a teacher or a few, that has influenced you positively with lessons that you'll never forget.
