Class Of 2020, Remember This

For my fellow high school seniors...

This is not the ending we all expected.

I know what you're thinking. If you could have just that one last (or even first) prom, that one last inspiring conversation with your favorite teacher, that last track season that you've been preparing for all winter, or that last performance. However, now is not the time to think about that. Right now you shouldn't be dwelling on the "what ifs" or "what could've been", but instead think about all of the past memories that you have made throughout the past four years.

Look back to the beginning of freshman year, where you entered a new building with new people and new classes for the first time. Think back to your first lunch, entering the lunch room having no idea where to sit or who to sit with. Don't forget that you found that spot to sit, you found a table with your friend group, you found that group of new people who let you sit with them, and because of that you found new friends that you would never thought you would be sitting with.

Remember your first football game, whether you were on the team, preforming on the field and in the bleachers with the band, cheering on the sidelines, or simply in the student section dressing up for the theme of the night. Wherever you were, don't forget to how it felt to watch the team win the first game. How amazing it felt to watch the team run on the field together while the band played "Hey Baby" and slowly changed the tune while everyone locked arms and swayed to the Alma Mater.

Think about how it felt to get ready for your first dance. Going dress shopping with a group of friends, getting to try on that first tux, making appointments for your hair and makeup at your favorite salon, or just having your friend do it. Remember that day where you got to leave school early to get ready for the dance and stopping for lunch before going to get ready. Reminisce on looking in the mirror the first time, how you were able to see yourself with that favorite dress or that brand new suit, eager to get in the car and go to the dance.

Remember this past September, how you walked into the school on your first last day, being able to finally see your favorite teachers again and meet new ones that would soon have a special place in your heart. For the rest of your life you will never forget those teachers, as they impacted how you have grown.

Everyone understands how we are feeling, and right now it may seem that there is no hope in sight, but take the time to remember the amazing experiences we had. High school may be officially over, and of course it did not end how we all had pictured it. Yet, even with all that we are going through, never forget what high school gave us.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
