1. A Christmas Story
This is such a classic Christmas movie that you can watch with your family. Mine watches this every year, and it is always funny! It shows the magic of the holidays through a child’s eyes, and the absolute chaos that is the holiday season.
2. Elf
“SANTAAAAAA!!! I KNOW HIM!” Why wouldn’t this movie be on the top 10 lists? It is slowly making its way to becoming a holiday classic. I mean, it is always on ABC’s 12 Days of Christmas. What is not to love about this movie? Other than you teeth and stomach hurting from all the sugar Buddy consumes. In all honesty… most people are like Buddy during the holidays.
3. Home Alone
One of the first words that pop into someone’s head this time of year is “hectic”. This is on the my top 10 list because I truly believe that it is possible to forget something as important as a child during this crazy season, and they did an excellent job of showing the humor in it. Bringing light to every parent’s nightmare while planning a trip. “Honey, did we forget something?”
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas
What is not to love about this movie? Lets be honest, every holiday is jealous of Christmas. If I was surrounded by scary and dark things all the time, I would want some gingerbread, lights and candy too!
5. Frosty The Snowman
The definition of magic. A snowman came to life from a magic hat that a child put on his head! What is not to love about this movie and the joy that is the living magical snowman, that teaches children that love, happiness, imagination, giving, and hope during this time is the most important.
6. Christmas With The Cranks
I’m just going to put it out there. Who wouldn’t want an escape from the chaos that is the holiday season? It sucks up all of our money and energy and going on a cruise once and a while doesn’t sound too bad! Breaking a tradition like putting a frosty on the roof can wait for another time. But then again, who doesn’t like to sing some carols by the fireplace surrounded by the people you love?
7. The Muppet Christmas Carol
It’s the Muppets people. They make everything better and so much jollier! Need I say more?
8. How The Grinch Stole Christmas
If this isn’t on your holiday movie list… you need to reevaluate your life choices. This movie shows how people are so easily left out because of how different they are. One little girl decided to break from the status quo that is buy gifts and receiving gifts and decided to include someone she felt was being left out. She showed the true meaning of the holiday and spread the love throughout Whoville.
9. Love Actually
Now that we talked about all the fun that is chaos, it is time to talk about cuffing season. This is a movie that isn’t just about the holidays, but it is about relationship, and all types of them. Whether is it between father and son or significant others, these people learn how to come together with a mutual feeling: love. They create it, share it, and discover it, to celebrate the season of love.
10. Fred Claus
This season is about family and love ones right? Well, what better way to celebrate than to watch the Claus siblings help each other out! Fred, Santa’s trouble making brother, pays off his debt with his brother by working in the shop in the North Pole and helps his brother out with an efficiency expert that wants to shut Saint Nicholas down. Even though everyone has their issues with their siblings, no one shuts down the North Pole if your brother has a say in it.
