Gifting: My Favorite Christmas Gift

The best part of celebrating Christmas, according to me.

Gifting: My Favorite Christmas Gift

Christmas is almost here! This season and the snow that it brings just put people in the Christmas spirit! Okay, except for you Grinches who don't like the season or snow or the cold or, well, you get it.

For the rest of us, we all have that one thing (or seven) about the holiday season that we just love, that thing that Christmas just isn’t the same without.

Things about Christmas that I love include, but are not limited to, baking or cooking any food, holiday church services, the overload of family time and mini Christmas celebrations with friends. But if I had to pick one thing to love the most, it would be gifting!

Yes, everyone loves receiving gifts, but I love everything about giving gifts: thinking of ideas for gifts, buying, wrapping, and giving them, and seeing the faces of the recipients when said gifts are opened! Normally I'm pretty good about sticking to a budget, but this year, the gifting just swept me off my feet, leaving my budget in the dust. But hey, if I can bring someone joy, it's totally worth it.

The gifts that I give aren't necessarily expensive or extravagant- sometimes it's hand made ones that mean the most! Now, since it's not Christmas yet and I haven't given any gifts out, I can't describe too many of them, but let me tell you what, this year I'm extra excited to give out these gifts!

My favorite person to give gifts to is my nephew, Ollie. He's four, therefore everything is so exciting to him–it's fantastic. Since he's so little and can't read yet, I'll tell you about his gifts- as long as you promise not to tell him! (Don't worry, I already told his mom)

So this kid is into Pokémon. He can tell you every Pokémon and what they evolve into. One of his favorites? Eevee. And guess what. I got him Eevee and a Poké ball. He's going to flip!

He also loves "flying" drones with my dad. (Dad has an extra remote so Ollie thinks he's flying, but really grandpa is in control) He's never gotten to fly his own, because he's only four! That's all about to change. *Enter Little Tikes My First Flyer helicopter*. And guess what. It makes noises. Loud noises. (Again, don't worry, I've already warned/apologized to his mom) I can just imagine the look on his face when he realizes that he gets to fly his own plane now! I'm beyond pumped. It will be so exciting.

So it's not always how much I spend on the gift, how long I spend shopping for or making it, or how many parts it has, it's that simple joy that it will bring to whoever I get to give it to!

Needless to say, I'm ready for this Christmas's gifting, are you?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
