After a lovely Christmas dinner, you now have plenty of leftovers to last you many weeks' worth of dinners. Check out these leftover hacks, so you can't get sick of the same food night after night.
A steak sandwich
First, go to your local pâtisserie, or market, for a fresh baguette. Cut the baguette in half, and then down the center, so it makes two open-faced sandwiches. Spread some butter, or mayonnaise on the bread, and then place the cold, cut steak slices onto the bread. Throw in some watercress for a fresh crunch in your sandwich. These sandwiches are a great way to reuse your medium rare steaks.
Cookies for snacks
Santa can only eat so many cookies on his way from your house to the next, so be sure and seal your cookies airtight so they last for you and your friends. Place an assortment of cookies on Christmas trays for guests to take home as well. Moeller's gingerbread men, Dessert Gallery's chocolate chip dipped cookies, and homemade sugar cookies all go well with a cold glass of milk. Consider making ice cream sandwiches with your leftover chocolate chip cookies, too!
Cake with your coffee
My sister enjoys her Dessert Gallery carrot cake with a cup of coffee in the morning, and her Dessert Gallery red velvet cake with a glass of milk in the afternoon. No matter what cake you choose, it can be a nice, warm treat (if heated for a few seconds) to compliment your more bitter coffee, or balanced with a glass of milk.
Use your HoneyBaked ham
Thanks to your HoneyBaked ham, you have the perfect flavors for your black eyed peas. The New Year requires you to eat at least a single black eyed pea, so the new year brings you prosperity. I promise with the HoneyBaked ham bone in your black eyed peas, you'll want to eat a whole bowl's worth of the stuff. These are my dad's New Year's specialty, and are also enjoyed for a few weeks if cooked in bulk.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Indulge in the holiday food while supplies last, and enjoy your family time while you can. God bless.
