One of the most important days of the year for any person is the day of their birth. For many this is a time of celebration where your friends get together and you get plenty of gifts from friends and family. However,
if you are one of the people that has a birthday around Christmas (like me on lucky December 28th) your birthday can often have a much different feeling.
One of the biggest things that happens because of a near-Christmas birthday is that you will often have to deal with the fact that a lot of friends will not be able to attend your birthday. Usually this is because they have other family plans during that time or they are out of town to see family for the holidays. This means that the majority of your birthdays will be a little smaller then what your friends might have. But you make do with what you have.
Another big part of having a near-Christmas birthday is that of course your present count may not be as substantial as you would like it to be. Now this can take the form of two different scenarios: either you will get your present count split between Christmas and your birthday or you get less presents in general for both days. Either way this shakes out it sucks to see siblings that have more presents than you because you have to wait another three days to get your final round of gifts.
You also have to deal with the fact that a pool party is almost never an option for you unless you live in Florida. And I mean how much fun is a pool party?! We really get the short end of the stick with that one. But the good news is that ice skating parties are always an available suggestion when comes to a party idea.
But even with all of this being said having a near-Christmas birthday does have it advantages like...like... well you know what let me get back to y'all on that later. Anyways, near-Christmas birthdays are a fact of life that some people have to deal so the next time somebody tells you that their birthday is within 5 days of Christmas just remember to give them a pat on the back and words of encouragement because, trust me, we need it during this time of the year.
