On Friday June 10, 2016 the world lost Christina Grimmie, a third place finalist from The Voice. She was shot and killed while doing a meet and greet with fans in Orlando, FL.
Personally, I had never listened to her music or followed her on social media, yet I grieve knowing this rising singer was only 22-years-old. She had much to live for. Her fans adored her, her family supported her and her friends stood by her. She was loved by those who knew her and those who became a fan of her. It is a tragedy that faces the world of music this week.
To have lost a star the way they did breaks millions of hearts. What breaks our hearts more is that it was a fan who shot and killed her. How he had a gun back there is a question that needs to be answered. My heart goes out to her immediate friends and family who lost their friend, daughter or sister.
She was too young to die, let alone be murdered in front of her supportive fans. She was discovered on YouTube and went on to participate on The Voice. She was an amazing young woman, with a very talented voice.
Christina Grimmie was a wonderful artist and loved her fans. It is proven in the way she stayed behind to meet them on the day of her death. She was a powerful Christian who posted covers of Christian songs on her YouTube channel. She was adored by those who knew her, both personally and publicly. She was good friends with Selena Gomez and other celebrities. She is not the first artist to be killed off this way but she is the most recent. She is going to be greatly missed.
I will be praying for this family and this fandom. They will need the support of others through this rough time. She is going to be missed but she is singing with the angles now. I will also be praying for the ones who saw the shooting. I cannot imagine how they must feel to see someone be shot, let alone see their idol be murdered. I also pray for those who were shot the day after in Florida. The families of those victims also need the support of others at this time. Our world is in disarray and no one can seem to stop it. I hope we can get our act together before we all kill each other in what will be World War III. I hope the world can stop spinning from all the deaths that have plagued the celebrity world in the last six months, from Alan Rickman to Christina Grimmie.
