Christianity Is Not Just A Sunday Outing

Going to church on Sundays doesn't make you a Christian, just like going to the grocery store doesn't make you a pineapple.

You heard it right, folks: being a Christian is more than just going to church on Sundays. What does that mean? Doesn't going to church make me a Christian? I'm praising God and learning about His word, surely that suffices...right? Wrong. You see, being a Christian is so much more than just going to church on Sundays. Being a Christian means living out your life in a way that makes other people wonder what it is that you have that they don't. Being a Christian means that God is the first person you turn to when things don't go your way. Being a Christian means to treat people with love, and only love, because that is how Christ treats us. Just because you go to church on Sundays doesn't make you a Christian, just like going to the grocery store doesn't make you a pineapple.

Being a Christian means that you have an aching desire to serve, because that's what you were put on this earth for. God gave you a talent that sets you apart from everyone else. He made you so talented so that you could take your talents and glorify Him through them. Being a Christian means going out on the field/court and playing with your all, and giving it all to God whether you win or lose. Being a Christian means painting your heart out because He blessed you with hands skilled enough to make art. Being a Christian means singing out praises to Him, because He gave you a distinct, lovely voice. Being a Christian means giving your time and energy to serve and glorify Jesus in every aspect of your life, because you know that life is a precious gift from above.

Being a Christian means learning to accept everyone, sins and all. The LGBT community, those that shun you, and even those who you may not get along with at all. Being a Christian is not being picky choosy over who you smile at in the streets. Being a Christian is more than just that "good deed of the day." It's being so genuinely accepting of other people, that they wonder what type of eternal love it is that you're reflecting. It's about hating the sin, not the sinner. It's about learning people's mistakes and rough spots in their lives, and uplifting them instead of discouraging them. It's being the helping hand, the shoulder to cry on, and the ear to listen. It's about putting others before you, because you know that is what Christ does for us.

Being a Christian means spending time with Jesus every single day. Multiple times a day. It's about praying every time you want to tell someone about the good and bad parts of your day. It's about opening up your Bible on your own time, and reflecting on The Word that God left us to show us how to live. Think about it, you get to know your best friends through chatting with them, through spending time with them. The only way that you will ever truly know God is if you spend good, quality time with Him. You will see that the way Christ speaks to us is the most beautiful form of communication there is. Being a Christian means prioritizing quiet times over anything, because you know that is your only way of getting closer to Him.

Going to church is important, and being a part of a church home is even more important, but being a Christian extends so much further than just going to church on Sundays. Being a Christian means living your life so passionately about Christ that others can see Him radiate through you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
