Any biomedical, biology or any other science major will understand the hardships that come with being a Christian in a scientist's world. With teacher after teacher, and adviser after adviser pounding evolution into our brains, sometimes it is so hard to separate our truths and their speculations. Evolution is a humongous bridge to cross. Keeping your faith while keeping your grades up can prove to be a difficult task.
While I am sure everyone has seen the movie, "God's Not Dead," where the main character is faced with a lot of obstacles in order to prove his teacher wrong and keep his faith strong, this is not always the case. Some teachers may not be as obvious; they just slip a few tidbits of information into our notes to make us start to question what we believe and what they believe. After endless hours of pouring over textbooks and PowerPoints, it's hard to think about anything other than the evolutionary history of amphioxus. While some species may have evolved over time (including us), this does not mean that it was not all of God's doing. How someone can study the magnificent land that God provided us, the tiny details he included deep in our DNA to make us unique, and not believe in Him is beyond me.
Sometimes, after a long day at work, I have to sit and reflect over my day in prayer. I pray for my faith to be strong and unshakable. I pray for the ability to impact others around me and within my community. Every science major will hit the evolution bridge somewhere in their schooling or chosen profession. When this happens, just remember these words,
"For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the Earth is full of his unfailing love. Let all the Earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm." Psalms 33: 4-6,9.
