As a writer, I know that inspiration can be extremely hard to find; however, inspiration hit me smack in the face Sunday night while watching the MTV Movie and TV Awards.

Chris Pratt, famous for his roles in the TV-show "Parks and Recreation" and in the "Avengers Infinity War," is known for being extremely funny and hardly ever serious, but his acceptance speech for the Generation award showed a whole new side of him.

He spoke directly to our generation and gave rules, named "Nine Rules From Chris Pratt, Generation Award Winner."

Rule One: Breathe. If you don't, you'll suffocate.

Completely straight forward, this generations sweats the small, medium, and big things. We need to slow down and learn to roll with life's many punches.

Rule Two: You have a soul, be careful with it.

People spend a lot of time focusing on other people and it can be detrimental to oneself. People need to treat their soul the same way that they treat others: with respect and dignity, never with anything less.

Rule Three: Don't be a turd. Be strong, be a protector and if you're smart be a humble influencer. Strength and intelligence can we a weapon and do not wield them against the weak. That makes you a bully. Be bigger than that!

In this world, we are constantly faced with the judgement of others and sometimes the judgement turns into degrading comments or even physical torment. No one should ever have to face that.

Rule Four: When giving a dog medicine, put the medicine in a little piece of hamburger and they won't even know they're eating medicine!

Pratt knows the audience doesn't want to feel like they're sitting through a seminar, so throwing some humor into his speech helps them retain the more serious information.

Rule Five: Doesn't matter what it is, earn it. A good deed, reach out to someone in pain, be of service, it feels good and it is good for your soul.

Pratt wants this generation to simply be good people. Earn whatever you have and always be there for others.

Rule Six: God is real. God loves you. God wants the best for you. Believe that, I do.

I think there are many people out there who forget this. There may be war, depression, sadness, and destruction, but there is always God; who is real, who loves you, and always wants what is best for you.

Rule Seven: If you have to poop at a party, but you're embarrassed because you're going to stink up the bathroom, just do what I do: lock the door, sit down, get all the pee out first—okay?—and once all the pee is done, poop, flush.

According to Pratt, it's a science. Maybe I can test it out one of these days to help prove his point.

Rule Eight: Learn to pray. It's easy and it's so good for your soul.

No matter what it is, or how ridiculous it may seem, pray about it. God works in mysterious ways, and if you ask for help, he will find a way to give you help you need.

Lastly, Rule Nine: Nobody is perfect. People are going to tell you that you're perfect just the way you are—you're not! You're imperfect, you always will be, but there is a powerful force that designed you that way and if you're willing to accept that you will have grace. And grace is a gift. And like the freedom in this country, that grace was paid for with somebody else's blood—do not forget it. Don't take it for granted.

People in the world today, specifically in America, forget that they are not perfect and that the luxuries they have wouldn't be here without the sacrifices soldiers have made.

Chris Pratt, a humorous and incredible actor brought to light many of the issues our society faces, especially in this generation. I've written down each one of these rules and plan to incorporate them into my own life because God knows that nowadays I need to follow them, and so do you.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
