If you’re looking for new music that reminds you of the pop hits from the late 90’s and early 2000’s, search no further. Chris Bourne‘s debut EP, “Young Love Relapse,” is sure to be the subject of many mixtapes, with his catchy pop hooks and easy to remember lyrics. You’ll catch yourself singing along to his songs for days, but you’ll find that you never grow tired of them. Despite their simplicity, Bourne’s music never seems overplayed or boring.
Chris is best known for two other musical feats; he played bass off and on between 2011 and 2015 for Hollywood Ending and is the younger brother of James Bourne. James is a member of one of the UK’s biggest pop rock bands, Busted, though he has also been a part of several other projects (i.e. Son Of Dork, Future Boy, The Bourne Insanity) and written a musical (Loserville: The Musical).
This is Bourne’ first attempt at a solo career, and it’s already kicking up the dust. His lead single, “MFT80S,” captivated fans and drew a strong audience of listeners with its 19,000+ views on YouTube since it’s release in April. The second single he dropped, a cover of “She Drives Me Crazy,” proved just how much Bourne loves his ‘music from the 80’s.’ Apparently, listeners do too, because he’s gotten 3,000+ views on YouTube for the neon paint doused cover. (Both of which, while lower than views on other videos, are significant amounts when you consider the mere 1,700 likes on his Facebook page.)
Despite having been a somewhat flaky bassist in HE, fans still love their Dirty Brit and are happy to see him making music again. Mostly, we can’t wait to hear what the rest of the new EP sounds like. Luckily, we don’t have to wait too long, as the EP dropped last Tuesday. Check it out!
